Alton Brown - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alton Brown (born on July 30, 1962 in Los Angeles, California) is the creator and host of the television show Good Eats, a cooking show on the Food Network.
Brown loves apples&;— not only the fruit, but also the computer company, Apple, as he was interviewed by Macworld magazine.
Brown rarely makes mistakes about his information, although he once mistook the green contents of a squeeze bottle to be a garnishing sauce when it was in fact soap.

Cocoa Carl- Another nemesis of Alton, Carl is the symbol for the conglomerate chocolate manufactuerers like Hershey and their chocolate syrup.
In "American Pickle", however, B.A. contrasts Alton's sweet pickled fruit with a recipe for extremely hot "Firecracker" carrots.
This is in reference to the Thanksgiving special, wherein Alton denigrated stuffing as increasing cooking time, being a harbinger of food poisoning, and not being good eats.

Featured at Brian's Belly: Alton Brown
Alton Brown is the creator, writer and host of "Good Eats," a cooking show that is currently beginning its seventh season on Food Network.
The user-friendly Alton Brown is highly regarded over at Slashdot, a recent feature in Wired magazine called Alton "the mad scientist of the culinary world," and Brian's Belly called him "the Buckaroo Banzai of food science" (we're hoping to be quoted somewhere).
I hesitate to call Alton a chef, because food scientist seems more accurate and sci-co (science cook) seems more witty.

Standing Rib Roast - Dry Aged - The Virtual Weber Bullet
I was inspired to dry age a standing rib roast after watching Alton Brown do one on "Good Eats" on the Food Network.
Experts like Alton Brown and Cook's Illustrated magazine say that you can safely dry age beef in your refrigerator at home for 3-7 days, while others like Bruce Aidells and Martha Stewart suggest that you leave dry aging to professional butchers.
Alternatively, Brown suggests placing the roast bone-side down on a rack over a rimmed sheet pan and covering loosely with a dry towel, changing the towel daily.

 Good Eats
Alton has managed to keep the show fresh and inventive by mixing straight up cooking shows with silly skits and theme based shows that parody popular films (the parody of "Misery" where Brown was the captive star forced to cook potato based dishes was a hoot).
Alton Brown mixes great recipes, great teaching of cooking skills, humour, drama, culture, and so much more to create a show that is informative and entertaining.
My favorite Alton Brown quote, which I try to use incessantly, was his defense of his practice of adding a half tablespoon of his beloved kosher salt to almost everything: "It doesn't make it salty, it makes it taste good."

Alton Brown, host of Food Network's Good Eats, is not your typical TV cook.
