The most famous is La reina pepiada, an arepa made with chopped meat, avocado and cheese.
Though arepas are a common South American breakfast item (as well as a lunch and dinner starch), what makes hers so special is the luxurious inclusion of butter in the dough and the use of milk instead of water.
The traditional arepas served in Miami has two cornmeal pancakes with a layer of cheese inside.

WeeklyDig : > VIVA MI AREPA
Arepas can be filled with spiced chicken or beef, cold Venezuelan chicken salad (reina pepia) or queso blanco, a sharp, crumbly white cheese somewhere between Jack and feta.
The namesake arepas ($3.50 each) are rather thick at Viva, and they’re fried on that griddle to a superb golden crisp.
A search for a good, basic arepa recipe suggests that they’re easy to make—most modern versions use only corn flour, water and salt.

Colombian cuisine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Such is the case of the sancocho soup in Valledupar, the arepas (a corn based bread like).
It consists of a large plate of plantain, white rice, roasted meat, salad, arepa, plantain chips, a fried egg with a bowl of red beans.
Inland, the plates resemble the mix of cultures, inherited mainly from amerindian and european cuisine, and the produce of the land mainly agriculture, cattle, river fishing and other animals' raising.

 History of the arepa
The dough was shaped by hand forming arepas to look like round cakes and then baked over hot charcoals.
It is used to make bread, tortillas, tamales, empanadas, buñuelos and arepas, as well as to prepare drinks such as atole, champurriada, guarapo, mazato, champus and chicha.
In the beginning of this century the masa for the arepas was prepared using a "pilón".

 CARACAS AREPA BAR
Arepas, which are thick corn tortillas that are stuffed with contrasting ingredients are enjoyed by millions of Venezuelans and serve in swanky restaurants, as well as 24-hours food stands.
The Caracas Arepa Bar produces a mighty fine deep-fried thick corn empanada with tasty fillings like black beans and salty Venezuelan cheese.
Some of my favorite arepas include the Reina Pepiada, a vibrant guacamole combined with shredded pieces of chicken or the De Pabellon tender shredded beef with hints of onions, green pepper, tomato coriander combined with slow cooked black beans and crispy sweet plantains.

 Viva Mi Arepa
I got a beef arepa and a chicken empenada.
In both cases, the filling was this sort of spiced paste - it was kind of hard to tell the difference between the beef and the chicken without looking at them (the beef being brown and the chicken, well, a lot lighter).
The arepa sort of looked like a sloppy joe on a bun, although the "bun" had a much firmer texture than a hamburger bun, but no real corn taste that I could tell.

Arepa is a special dessert that is traditionally prepared in an iron pot on top of red-hot coal.

Los Amigos Invisibles: Arepa 3000: A Venezuelan Journey Into Space ---Ink Blot Magazine
In oh so many ways, Arepa 3000 is more of the same: fakey Latin lounge music with minor psychedelia, smokin' electronic salsa falsa, disco that couldn't be more un-authentic if Beck were playing it.
Their first album, A Typical and Autoctonal Venezuelan Dance Band, is glommed onto by David Byrne, that inveterate world-music whore; he invites them to do an album for Luaka Bop, and The New Sound Of The Venezuelan Gozadera does pretty damned well for them.
I really loved these Venezuelan nutjobs' first album for Luaka Bop, The New Sound Of The Venezuelan Gozadera, and was salivating for the chance to hear where they were going to go from there.

Their North American debut, The New Sound of the Venezuelan Gozadera, established their sound so fully and unambiguously that there's startlingly little left to be said.
As it happens, the two song titles that give away the inside joke are also among the best on the album: "Cuchi-Cuchi" and "Masturbation Session." And if you can't get a kick out of a bunch of horny Latinos shouting those phrases in unison, what fun are you, anyway?
What does matter is that they realize there are two ways to get hips moving, and they're masters of both.
