Budweiser Budvar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Budweiser is the name of a style of lager beer (similar to pilsner) from the city of České Budějovice in Bohemia (Czech Republic), brewed since 1265.
Other breweries in České Budějovice are Budweiser Burgerbräu (trademark Samson), Bohemia Regent and Trebzin.
Although Budějovický Budvar was founded in the 13th century, Anheuser-Busch claims it has only been distributing Budweiser as a commercial brand since 1895, 19 years after the Budweiser brand was first brewed by Anheuser-Busch.

 Budweiser Case Study
Budweiser means the beer of the Budweis region, same as Champaign in France describes the wine of the Champaign wineries.
Budvar, however, insists on the original Budweiser to remain as a reference to the beer brewed in Budweiss (German for Ceske Budejovice) —place of its (geographical) origin.
This similar initiative, but on behalf of the beer was attempting to reduce the use of Pilsner (which ties to the famous Czech beer brewed in Plzen) and of course Budweiser (beer brewed originally in Budejovice [Budweis]) labeling on beers.
