CAMRA was founded in response to the increased production of keg beer (pasteurized, filtered beer served refrigerator cold and under gas pressure) during the 1950's and 60's.
CAMRA has fought to prevent closings of or tampering with local or historic pubs by the large breweries.
The takeovers and mergers of many small, independent brewers in Britain by large, national brewers led to a reduction in cask-conditioned ale production in favor of keg ale, a product that is easier to distribute and sell.

CAMRA is a British organisation and the Good Beer Guide only gives details of pubs in the UK.
I still don't see any CAMRA chapters in Ireland or any mention of Ireland in any CAMRA guides to good beer.
Similarly, CAMRA only has branches in the UK although I feel sure they would welcome an affiliation with a US-based organisation - just as they have one with the European Beer Consumers’ Union.

 The Star Inn - Bath - A real ales pub serving Bellringer from Abbey Ales
There are four different drinking areas - the smaller bar, still used by many of the regulars, features a long single bench known as "death row" where a complimentary pinch of snuff can still be found in the tins on the ledge above the wall panelling.
The pub is described by CAMRA (The Campaign of Real Ale) as a "rare and unspoiled pub interior of outstanding historic interest" and it is listed on the National Inventory of Heritage Pubs.
