 Guide to Freshwater Invertebrates
As larvae, freshwater mussels (or clams) may hitch a ride by attaching themselves to migrating fish.
Flatworms (planaria), roundworms (nematodes), and freshwater earthworms (oligochaetes) are properly called worms; but don’t confuse them with the soft-bodied larvae of flies, for examples, which are not.
Nematodes and oligochaetes are long and thin and writhe like snakes.
