Fruitarians (or fructarians) are a subgroup of vegans who eat only the fruit of plants.
There is evidence that the Essenes were raw foodists and fruitarians.

Satya April '97: Fruitarianism by Rynn Berry
A growing number of vegetarians have chucked the sautéed eggplant and batter-fried zucchini to become fruitarians -- those who eat only raw foods, predominantly fruit (80 percent of the diet), along with raw vegetables, soaked grains and unprocessed nuts -- and they are eloquent in defense of their diet.
Typically, she has a fruit smoothie for breakfast, for lunch a green salad with cucumber, tomatoes, and red pepper dressed with a salsa-tahini sauce of her own devising, and for dinner she may have apples, dates, and fresh almonds or pistachios.
Although he initially became a fruitarian by accident when he joined the raw food line at a vegetarian conference (!), he found the food to his taste and felt an end to sluggishness and a surge of energy.

 Fruitarianism
Fruitarianism is usually lumped into one pigeonhole with raw foodism - one of the definitions I had read before I looked it up online defined 'fruitarian' as: "Will eat only fruits, raw vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouted beans and seeds." ('Eat Well, Stay Well' cookbook, in association with the Royal College of General Practitioners).
Fruitarians eat 100% raw food as close as possible to its natural state.
Some Fruitarians will consume nuts and vegetables to a certain extent, although these rarely would be consumed in any great amount by a Fruitarian, however we promote a true fruitarian diet, 100% fruit with no nuts and no vegetables or greens.

The nice thing about the raw food diet is that it is so much more diverse than fruitarianism.
