 malt --  Encyclopædia Britannica
Most malt is used in the brewing of beer and related beverages, such as malt liquor; the remainder is used to produce distilled alcoholic beverages, breakfast foods, malted milk products, malt syrups, and malt flour for baking.
One, called weissbier (white beer), is made from wheat and barley malt.
Unmalted cereal grains such as rice, corn, wheat flour, or some form of barley are sometimes added to the malt in order to change the various qualities of the beer.

BYO - Make Your Own Malt
Malted wheat and corn are used without being roasted to lighten the body of the homebrew.
Malted wheat and corn should be dried entirely at the lower temperature of 100¡ to 125¡ F. The finished barley malt should be crunchy to the bite and taste slightly sweet.
Crystal malt imparts sweetness and brown color to homebrew without the burnt flavor characteristic of roasted malts.

What is Malt & How Can it Improve Your Bagel
Malt Extracts of Malt Syrups are concentrates of the water extract of dried "Malt".
Therefore, the only way to achieve a dry diastatic malt is by dry blending the malted barley flour, which is enzymatically active in the range of 200º Lintner, with the standardizing ingredients wheat flour and dextrose.
Diastatic malts, either liquid or dry, supplement the amylase in the wheat flour to provide sugar for fermentation and improve dough handling by helping modify, or relax, the gluten in the wheat flour.

 Malt
Malt Extract is the concentrated sugars extracted from malted barley.
Malt extract is available in Pale, Amber and Dark varieties, and can be mixed depending on the style of beer desired.
When the brewer starts extracting the malt sugars from the grain himself, All-Grain Brewing, then the brewer has found one half of the complex heart of brewing.

Beverage and Food Dynamics-Malt liquor segment keeps gaining ground-Jan/Feb 98
Malt liquors, which typically have alcohol content levels that range from 5.7% to 5.9%, are somewhat more potent than typical mainstream beers, which have alcohol content levels of about 5%.
Malt liquor was one of only three segments showing growth in 1996, and held steady this past year in an extremely competitive environment.
Malt liquors, because of their smooth drinkability, higher-than-normal alcohol content and competitive price points have often been accused of being a cheap buzz and unfairly marketed to ethnic communities.

 Malt Extract
Kilned malts vary due to the temperature at which this last moisture is removed; munich is dried at a higher temperature than pilsner or pale ale resulting in a darker hue and most significantly, stronger flavor and aroma.
The malt flavor and aroma of many German beers such as oktoberfest, alt, bock, dunkel, doppelbock, and even some weizens comes from munich malt.
Like all kilned malts, munich is dried at a low temperature until the moisture is ~15%.

MetroActive Features Malt Liquor Marketing to Latinos
Although it is packaged like beer and looks like beer when poured in a glass, malt liquor's alcohol content is twice as high, and its concentration of corn syrup and other sweeteners serves to jack up the intoxication process.
A 40-ounce bottle of malt liquor, which in many circles is the standard serving for one drinker, has the same amount of alcohol as five shots of whiskey.
While malt liquor comprises less than 5 percent of the beer market, it is the fastest-growing segment.

Malt liquor can have as much as 8 percent alcohol and is sold in larger sizes, he noted.

States Want Clearer Labeling of Malt Beverages
A recent study found that 105 out of 114 flavored malt beverages derived more than 75 percent of their alcohol content from distilled spirits "flavorings." The study also found that the labeling of a beverage that derives most of its alcohol content from added alcohol flavors as a malt beverage is "inherently misleading" to consumers.
Flavored malt beverages are produced by stripping the taste, color and most of the alcohol from a malt beverage and then adding flavorings, including those from distilled spirits.
This ruling found that malt beverages may contain only alcohol that is the result of alcoholic fermentation at the brewery.

Often referred to as the first stage of the brewing process, the devotion to malting at Warminster is recognised by brewers as a very important ingredient to their brewing.
Warminster Maltings was remodelled in 1879, and under the direction of E.S.Beaven became an academy of barley breeding and malting until 1941.Guinness acquired the business and continued to make malt for London’s Park Royal Brewery until 1994.
Although the malting process at Warminster is unchanged over time, in contrast, todays high standards for food production are all closely adhered to, and constantly reviewed to stay ahead of brewers demands and consumers perception.

This beer has lots of alcohol, and once you get by the first few swallows and that corn taste, it is not a bad beer.

But those are the extremes of the spectrum; if you're looking for affordable sherried malts that you can keep replacing as soon as the bottle is empty, it seems Aberlour and Glenfarclas are your drams.
Of course, most of the standard OB's are vattings that include a certain percentage of sherry casks; as such, they'll never become the 'sherry monsters' that are sometimes released as single cask bottlings.
