Chiuchow cuisine Chiuchow cuisine, Teochew cuisine or Chaozhou cuisine (潮&: Cháozhōu cài) originates from Chiuchow (now called 'Chaozhou'), a city of China in Guangdong Province, not far from Canton.
However, Chiuchow cuisine does have some unique dishes that are not in Cantonese cuisine.
Hence the cooking style is very similar to Cantonese cuisine.

Anyway, I tasted some Teochew mooncakes last year and it was good.
It's very different from the usual dark little cakes with flourless skins that we are used to; it's lighter yet just as rich with the yang of the creamy yam paste counterbalancing the yin of the dark crumbly sweet red bean paste.
The dessert wine you see in the background is Seduction Gaullac Doux 1996 that matched pretty well without overwhelming or being overwhelmed.
